Recital info

In Tanssila's own performances at the end of the term, all Tanssila students take part. Every dancer at Tanssila is offered the opportunity to perform in our school's shows, which are held in both the fall and spring terms. Participation in the shows is not mandatory, but it is often a wonderful experience, and we encourage dancers to take part. The performance experience, along with the rehearsal process, is a shared project for the dancers, where they also practice other skills in addition to dance.

Before the performances, a performance information package is provided to the dancers, which includes details about which show they will be in, as well as the schedule for stage rehearsals. The performance information also contains more specific details about costumes and rehearsals for each group.

We ask that dancers notify their group teacher well in advance if they are unable to participate in the performance, so that changes to the choreography do not cause any inconvenience to other dancers or the teacher towards the end of the process. As the performance approaches, it becomes very important to attend rehearsals, as the dancers perform in groups, and each member of the group is equally important.

The costumes for the performances are mostly provided by Tanssila's costume stock. If the teacher has any specific costume requests for the performance, they will inform the dancers well in advance. Generally, the items that need to be brought from home or purchased are minimal. No dancer has ever been unable to perform due to missing the necessary gear, as Tanssila also offers the possibility to borrow needed items. If a dancer is missing any required clothing or accessories, they should inform their teacher, and the teacher will pack all the necessary items for the performance day.

There are three performances in one day, each lasting about 60 minutes without an intermission. Each Tanssila group performs in one show. The more dance classes a dancer has, the more performances they will be in. Tanssila's intensive and representative groups perform in several different shows.

Performers do not need a ticket for the shows. There is no limit to the number of tickets available, so in addition to family, even godparents and grandparents are welcome to attend. Ticket sales cover the cost of the theater rental, the fees for the theater and Tanssila staff, and, of course, the performance costumes.

Welcome to Tanssila's performances!

1. How to get the tickets?

Tickets are purchased in advance. Information about where to buy tickets will be provided on Tanssila's website ahead of time. Tickets often sell out quickly, so it is recommended to purchase them as soon as possible.

2 .If a dancer cannot participate in the performance, can they still attend dance classes?

TEveryone practices for the dance performance during class, even if someone is unable to attend the performance. The rehearsal for the dance performance is part of the pedagogical process of dance.

What does the dancer need to bring for the performance?

The dancer needs to bring their own hair accessories, any makeup, a water bottle, and some light snacks. The dance costumes are provided by Tanssila, unless the teacher has specified otherwise. It is also recommended to bring your own dance class clothes just in case, as well as a hoodie and warm socks, since the theater can be cold!
